Summary

Join Paul Weaver on this unique opportunity to paint Castles and Canals

of the Usk Valley plus landscapes of Monmouthshire and Abergavenny.

Details

We will paint along the Brecon and Monmouth Canal at places such as

Goytre Wharf, Castles such as Caldicott and Raglan plus Welsh Heritage

Sites such as Blaenavon Ironworks with it's traditional cottages and

remnants of an industrial past. The grounds around the hotel with the

lake, reflections, streams and trees with their dappled sunlight make for

a great subject as well as painting landscapes, valleys and lakes giving

plenty of variety of painting subjects.

An award winning artist, enthusiastic and encouraging tutor, Paul will

combine informative lessons with plenty of on-site sketching and

painting.

He will guide you through his techniques for capturing the mood and

atmosphere of this superb location.

With instructive demonstrations and personal guidance, he will offer

advice on choosing subjects, composition and tonal sketches, as well as

techniques for capturing the atmospheric effects of light and shade,

trees, skies, water and reflections, simplifying architecture and adding

figures to a scene.
